Rosny Barn is a gallery, a stage, a rehearsal room, a cinema, a gathering place. Built in the early 1800s and repurposed in the early 2000s, it’s now one of Tasmania’s most distinctive cultural venues – raw, flexible, and full of atmosphere.
Inside, the Barn hosts everything from experimental performance to large-scale exhibitions and late-night jazz. It’s also known for its remarkable acoustics – fingerstyle guitar legend Stefan Grossman once called it ‘the best acoustic venue in the Southern Hemisphere’.
Outside, the stone walls open onto gardens, pathways and the wider Rosny Farm precinct, connecting audiences with the landscape, the past, and each other.
It’s not precious. It’s not predictable. And it’s rarely the same thing twice.
