**UPDATE**
Bellerive Beach Party cancelled due to severe weather warning
City of Clarence has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Bellerive Beach Party due to the Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds issued today, Friday 9 Jan, by the Bureau of Meteorology.
Based on the latest Bureau of Meteorology advice of strong winds averaging 50–60 km/h with potential gusts of up to 100 km/h along coastal areas, the predicted conditions present an unacceptable safety risk for the public, performers, stallholders and staff.
While this is a disappointing outcome for the thousands of people expected to attend the annual event, safety must remain the priority. The Rosny Farm team and event partners will now focus on supporting artists, stallholders and suppliers affected by the cancellation.
However, because nothing stops Neil the Seal, one of the festival’s favourite features will still make an appearance. The giant sand delivery for this year’s planned sculpture has already arrived, meaning a (likely very) temporary piece of public art will still take shape on Bellerive Beach over the weekend. While the full Beach Party can’t proceed, locals can enjoy this small consolation — a little coastal creativity inspired by Tasmania’s most chaotic visitor.
Stay safe!
