Alan is the History Officer for the City of Clarence and has an impressive and eclectic interest in colonial Tasmania,19th century artists, and historic wallpaper.
With the help of the Royal Society, Alan will walk you through the artists who have visited Bellerive to paint Hobart, and their connection with Charles Darwin’s 1836 visit to Hobart aboard the Beagle. From English watercolourists to Danish painters, not to mention Charles Darwin himself, a fascinating succession of leading figures in arts and science have visited this shoreline.
This event is presented by Beaker Street Festival and the City of Clarence.
This walk will depart from outside Hobartica East’s MACCA Dome (situated on Bellerive Boardwalk). The walk will take approximately 120 minutes and will be no more than 5km.
