We’re opening the festival with a bang as Uncle Gus and The Rimshots kick things off in classic jump-jive style. This Hobart band brings high-energy swing, sharp humour and irresistible banter, keeping audiences dancing, singing and laughing from the first note.

An ensemble like no other in Lutruwita, Araco Libre are comprised largely of political refugees who fled the Pinochet regime in Chile to Tasmania in the 80s, becoming some of our state’s most important cultural ambassadors and most legendary Andean dance and party band.

Sixteen established and emerging jazz composers come together to create new work inspired by the festival’s history, its people and connection to Country. Reflecting diverse experiences across cultures, ages and genders; nine months of development culminates in three performances across the festival.

Shade performs original instrumental music, it’s expansive, layered, evocative and groove based. Sometimes cinematic, sometimes habibi funk. Always adventurous.

Now in its fourth delectable year, Le Grande Fromage Soirée returns to Rosny Farm for an evening of swing, sparkle, and mischief. Led by violinist Charlie McCarthy and his all-star Manouch Jazz ensemble, expect sizzling solos, cheeky waltzes, and Parisian revelry, where Django meets Debussy.
