This exhibition is marked by an embrace of awkwardness through paintings that reflect the unsettled nature of our relationships with the nonhuman world, while simultaneously resonating with the artist’s experiences of uncertainty and self-doubt as an older painter.

With a longstanding interest in human-nonhuman relationships, Yvette’s work reflects the awkward, often fraught interactions between humans and other animals. This sensibility extends to her own practice, where she navigates persistent feelings of awkwardness, transforming them into a defining characteristic of her art as an act of resistance.
