Celebrating four decades of exceptional craftsmanship, DOT40 is a major new exhibition marking 40 years of Design Objects Tasmania, an organisation that has been at the very heart of Tasmania’s vibrant designer-maker culture since 1986.
Opening this September at The Barn at Rosny Farm, DOT40 is a curated exhibition bringing together the work of remarkable Tasmanian designers and makers. The exhibition traces the lineage of the state’s unique design identity and looks toward its dynamic future, presented across three distinct curatorial strands:
- NOW: Showcasing the strength of current talent, this strand features current DOT members presenting contemporary practice.
- LEGACY: Grounding the exhibition in history, this strand honours 10 influential practitioners, revealing the rich lineage and foundational inspiration behind today’s work.
- HORIZON: Looking forward, this future-focused commission features one emerging designer who has been funded to create an entirely new work, representing the next generation of Tasmanian design.
DOT40 will be more than a retrospective; it is an active celebration of the ongoing evolution of craft and design in Tasmania. Supported by the Clarence City Council and Rosny Farm, this showcase is a must-see for anyone passionate about local design and the handmade.
Join us in The Barn this September to experience the legacy, the present, and the bright horizon of Tasmanian design.
