One of Australia’s most electrifying soul and blues vocalists, Mahalia Barnes has a voice that demands to be heard — raw, powerful and full of feeling. Raised on the sounds of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder, she’s carved out a remarkable career of her own, sharing stages with music legends including Bruce Springsteen, Mavis Staples, Joe Bonamassa and The Roots.
And she’s bringing some serious musical firepower with her.
Joined by her four-piece band, The Soul Mates — featuring Mick Skelton on drums, Clayton Doley on organ and piano, Franco Raggatt on guitar and Benjamin Rodgers on bass — Mahalia will serve up a mix of soul, blues and rock ’n’ roll favourites, original songs from her three albums and maybe even the odd request.
